ED&F; Welcomes Schneider to its Team

BISMARCK, ND - The Economic Development & Finance division (ED&F;) of the Department of Commerce recently hired John Schneider, a Harvey native, as executive director of the Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC). Schneider replaces Lance Gaebe who was appointed by Gov. Hoeven as the agricultural/natural resources policy advisor.
For the past eight years, Schneider has served as executive director of Harvey Area Economic Development, Inc. Before that, he was a management consultant at JB Schneider & Associates of Minneapolis.
Schneider graduated from North Dakota State University where he earned a bachelor�s of science degree in economics and a minor in business with an emphasis in accounting, marketing and sales.
APUC, a division of ED&F;, administers five grant programs for researching and developing new and expanded uses for North Dakota agricultural products: basic and applied research, marketing and utilization, cooperative marketing, farm diversification, and agricultural prototype.
Being from a rural community, Schneider has a strong agricultural background. "I feel the need to put money back into rural North Dakota," Schneider said.
"After college, I left North Dakota and, as a result, realized how great it is here," he said. "I have a deep passion for North Dakota."
