Posted on May 31, 2002
TIOGA, ND The Tioga Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and the North Dakota Department of Commerce today announced a partnership to market the community for business expansion or relocation with marketing materials and an alumni event. The EDC will kick off its campaign with an alumni luncheon and business tours on June 28.
This partnership will help Tioga position itself professionally and before a prime audience, said Gov. John Hoeven. We know former North Dakotans are looking for ways to help their native state, and I commend Tiogas efforts to host an alumni event that showcases their community. Gov. Hoeven sent a letter of congratulations to Tressy Heinle, director of the Tioga EDC.
Heinle agrees with the governor. We anticipate about 2,500 Tioga alumni will return for our centennial this summer. It is our goal to capture some of these individuals and sell the idea of relocating or expanding their businesses in their home town.
Linda Butts, director of the Economic Development and Finance Division of the Department of Commerce (DOC), made a formal announcement of the $11,000 grant which the DOC approved. The grant is part of the states Partners In Marketing program which has $175,000 allocated to support local economic development efforts to market communities and regions across the state for business expansion or relocation.
Efforts such as those in Tioga help all of us move economic development to the next level, Butts said. A professional presentation to the right audience will go a long way in positioning North Dakota before the right decision makers and bringing the next business to our state.
The Tioga EDC is also one of six partners to receive a $30,000 DOC grant that supports marketing North Dakota through the IT and Ag Open events held in July and August of this year.
